Lorraine Kelly is a Scottish journalist and television host who was born on November 30, 1959.
Kelly was born in Glasgow’s Gorbals neighborhood. She is of Irish descent. John, her father, was a television repairman.
Prior to the family’s relocation to East Kilbride, where she attended Claremont High School, she spent her earliest years of life in Glasgow.
She declined a university scholarship to study English and Russian in favor of a job at her hometown newspaper, the East Kilbride News, and in 1983 she began working for BBC Scotland as a researcher.
